Toxins lurking During an inspection by the Swedish state's Environment and Health Department in 1997 a puddle of Mercury was found on the floor in one of the buildings. This initialized a general clean-up and among the many toxic wastes taken care of was 35 metric tons of oily paper pulp, 117 kilos of Mercury and 1.2 tons of photographic chemicals (!?). Still many toxins are expected to be hiding in piping and caverns underneath the site. August 2006. |
