KVS Sanatoriumcough's end
---

/ Home /

The abandoned laundry and housing facility at the KVS sanatorium site in Skåne, southern Sweden. Some parts of the sanatorium are still active while others have been abandoned for years. Much has been torn down of what once was a large compound and the fate of the remaining buildings is uncertain. This section was constructed in 1925 and the architect Gustaf Birch-Lindgren.

Color and wide angle is normally my thing but during this trip down south I made a few exceptions and this was one of them. I enjoyed the challenge and I guess a few shots turned out alright but still feel that color is my thing.

The room in the back was used for autopsies.

Toilets and pigeon

Toilets and pigeon

Me and photo-buddy tried luring the pigeon back to freedom through the nearby hallway but it didn't work. Scared that it might hurt itself when startled by our attempts we decided to leave it be with hopes that it'd find the way out by itself in the end.

Munchies

Munchies

Normally I don't care for scribbling inside derelicts but sometimes, just sometimes,
I make an exception. The fact that the light was nice helped too.

Behind these doors were the rooms of sanarorium workers.

Employees' housing

Employees' housing

Many of the employees at the sanatorium were young women and many of them lived here on the second floor. This fact made the sanatorium, and especially this section, an attraction among the equally young men in the area. But that was a while ago.

Wide angle would have been the natural choice for the stairway-scape
but had my mind set on only using the 80 mm at this site.
