Founded in the 40s, boomed in the 60s, shut down in the 80s. Once among the biggest and most productive cement mills in the world, delivering circa 1200 metric tons of cement per day. After a number of years unused the bio-engineering company Bedminster started composting household garbage in the old lime rock furnaces, an attempt which failed.
